A few years ago, I wanted to learn more about letterforms of common typefaces in an attempt to have a closer bond with them and to become more aware of thire details and their curves.
I printed a bunch of pages that just had basic characters in different sizes and in different typefaces. I had an abundant amount of tracing paper left from an art class, so I used them to trace the letterforms.
Unfortunately, due to the busy nature of a Design major, I got around to do just this set of tracings, Century Old Style. Furthermore, I had not developed any increased sense of awareness toward the the typeface; it merely felt like a mindless tracing of shapes over and over again, except that it increased in size.

But hopefully, with the opening of this Type Experiments section, I can invest more time into this, continue the tracing, increase focus on the form, experiment with the letterforms, and make use of the tracings for other experiments.
In the mean time, though, enjoy the scan of multiple layers of the tracing of Century Old Style. (Select “View image” or equivalent in your browser for a larger size.)
